If you are interested in joining or for more information on the Reader Ministry at ICC, please contact Cristy Lindsey, Liturgical Coordinator at the Parish Office 940-565-1770 Ext. 217 or communications@iccdenton.org *Please note: All volunteers in any ministry at Immaculate Conception Church must complete Safe Environment Training before serving in ministry.
“When the Scriptures are read in Church, God himself speaks to His People, and Christ, present in his own Word, proclaims the Gospel. Therefore all must listen with reverence to the readings from God’s word for they make up an element of greatest importance in the Liturgy” (General Instruction of the Roman Missal).
Readers are members of the Assembly of the Faithful who proclaim the Word in the first two scripture readings. They also assist (when no Deacon is present) at reading the Prayers of The Faithful for the Assembly.
There are guidelines for serving as a Reader, training and preparation are also necessary for those persons wishing to be a Reader.
