Bible Study on The Holy Spirit in Scripture begins Sunday, March 2. The three week study meets each Sunday at 9:45 A.M. in Portable Building B and includes the action of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, the Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, and the Epistles. Come and bring your Bible, your mind, and your heart.
STEWARDSHIP/DISCIPLESHIP GROUP
The Bishops pastoral defines stewardship as a sharing, generous, accountable
way of life rooted in Christian discipleship. It is not optional; it is a necessary
outcome of the faith we profess. This is a discussion group to understand what God is
asking of a stewardship parish.
BIBLE STUDY GROUP - ACTS OF THE APOSTLES
The Acts of the Apostles tells us the wonderful stories of people and events that helped
form our Church. We begin in Jerusalem among the Jewish people, who are Gods chosen
people. With teaching, healing, and good example the Church grows until it comes to Rome
and to the people who are not Jews. This is how the early Church responded to the teaching
of Jesus. We study the Acts of the Apostles so we can learn how to respond.
BIBLE STUDY GROUP - PRAYING THE SCRIPTURES
This is a study of biblical prayer in the context of revelation. We are helped to see how
our prayer is primarily a celebration of Gods saving work. We are able to pray in
relationship to God who saves us. This study can help us to a real life conversion. Better
understanding of Scripture can lead us to a richer prayer life.
GROWING FAITH STUDY GROUP
Knowing Christ is an essential part of being a Catholic. Members of the Body of Christ
develop a mature, adult faith by study and by sharing faith. This is a process or
remembering what we learned, recognizing how the learning has changed and how our faith
life today is affected by all of this. This is self learning and faith sharing. It is a
process for owning our faith so we can truly be faith disciples.
YOUNG ADULTS
COMPANION TO THE BIBLE BIBLE STUDY
This group will study how the Bible came to be, the divisions of the Bible, and the world
of the Bible. Then we proceed to learn about the differences in the Jewish, Protestant,
and Catholic Bibles, how to read and study the Bible, and how to pray with the Bible.
After this study you will be more comfortable with reading the Bible and having a basic
familiarity with the contents of the Bible.
THE SUNDAY READINGS
This group will break open the word of the Sunday readings. They will study the reading,
its place in the Bible, the meaning and how it can be applied to todays world.
Hopefully the journey within will invite us conversion from reading the Scripture to
living the Word of God.
THE EUCHARIST STUDY GROUP
This is a study that helps us relate to the Eucharist in the Hebrew Bible and in the New
Testament. This study invites us to come aside while and spend time learning more about
the gift of the Eucharist in our lives. Our entire lives can be united in prayer with
Christ through the Eucharist.
